Recent improvements to High Rock Reservation include a new granite staircase running from Essex Street at McGloin Square up to the Stone Cottage and then around and up to the Stone Tower level with a grand staircase at the Tower’s main entrance.
The final phase of site includes a vehicular turnaround with parking at the Stone Cottage level of the Reservation as well as granite walls and stone walks. The turnaround is sized to allow school bus access. Funding for that work is from the State of Massachusetts (PARC grant) for $500,000, as well as CDBG funds in the amount of $245,000.
The Department of Community Development also hopes to purchase a new more powerful telescope and complete a connection of the exterior cameras to the City’s website.
