The City of Lynn has become a more bicycle-friendly community.  In an effort to support travelers taking a more “green” transportation option, the City of Lynn has installed 136 new bike racks at various locations throughout the City.  Not only do the bike racks create a more aesthetic landscape to building grounds, pedestrian safety is enhanced by less interference to benches, trees or signposts which bicyclists would normally have used to secure bikes when racks were unavailable.  The installation of bike racks also encourages our community to become healthier – riding to work rather than driving to work.

The bike racks were provided by a grant from the Metropolitan Area Planning Council for approximately $17,000.  The City had the racks installed at more than 20 parks and playgrounds as well as at popular locations such as City Hall, the MBTA station, Central Square and the Lynn Public Library.
